If you're looking for a building contractor who manages quality, cost and programme, look no further than The Building Partnership Ltd. Since 1996, we have worked with professional bodies, organisations, local authorities and individuals to make sure that the buildings we create meet the needs of the client and the surrounding environment.
Our company is led by two co-directors: Steve Foyle and Chas Smith.
Steve Foyle
“I have worked within the construction industry for more than 42 years as a qualified carpenter and joiner, with City & Guilds Craft and Advanced levels and having completed the City & Guilds Full Technological Course in Building.
I initially worked for Kier Construction at Sandy, Bedfordshire, within the building department as a material scheduler, working on contracts ranging in value from £1,000 to £4,000. I continued my studies via day release at Cambridge College of Arts and Technology, achieving a bridge year into HNC Building Management.
Following this, I was employed as a senior clerk of works by the British Railways Board Chief Architect Department, working on southern region works consisting of new stations, relay rooms for signalling, and building refurbishment works. During this time I also attended the Hertfordshire College of Building at St Albans in order to study for the Chartered Institute of Building exams, obtaining CIOB Final Part 1. Latterly, I was a joint partner in The Building Partnership. In 1996 The Building Partnership Ltd was formed and I became a director of the company.”
Chas Smith
“I successfully completed a 5-year apprenticeship with a local building company (AC EMMS Ltd), gaining distinctions in City & Guilds Advanced Craft Carpentry and Joinery whilst attending Luton Technical College (now the University of Bedfordshire) and also became an associate member of the Institute of Carpenters (IOC).
During my time working with AC EMMS Ltd, the work was varied but was mainly concentrated within the retail, leisure and hotel sectors for clients like Ladbrokes, Butlin’s and Rank Organisation throughout the country.
Later, further experience was gained by working for local building companies on local authority works for Mouchel Parkman, Bedford Borough Council, Mid Beds Council and Milton Keynes Council.
After working for The Building Partnership Ltd as a contracts manager, the opportunity arose to become a director alongside Steve Foyle. I have also completed a higher diploma in construction management at Bedford College, safety training courses,
and first aid training.”
